Naan Bread with Steak

This Saturday special uses toasted naan bread as a base. It is topped with mashed avo, onions, grilled steak slivers, tomato and a sprinkling of grated cheese.
Naan Bread with Steak

You Will Need:

  • 2 Naan breads
  • olive oil
  • 400 g sirloin steak
  • Ina Paarman’s Garlic Pepper Seasoning
  • 2 avo’s, smashed
  • 2 cloves garlic, finely chopped (optional)
  • 1 onion, thinly sliced
  • 4 peppadews, chopped (optional)
  • 100 g cherry tomatoes, halved
  • Ina Paarman’s Vegetable Spice
  • ½ cup (125 ml) grated cheddar cheese

Method:

Brush both sides of the Naan breads lightly with olive oil.

Toast on a griddle pan, keep aside.

Cut into the fat layer of the steak with a sharp knife.

Season the steaks with Garlic Pepper Seasoning and drizzle generously with oil.

Crisp the fat layer first on the griddle pan.

Cook steaks to medium rare.

Leave to rest so that the juices can settle.

In the meantime, smash the avo’s with a potato masher and add garlic.

Season with Garlic Pepper Seasoning.

Separate the onion rings out, keep on one side.

Mix peppadews and tomatoes, season lightly with Vegetable Spice.

Slice the steaks biltong style.

To Assemble

Spread toasted Naan breads with mashed avocado, top with onion rings.

Scatter steak slices over.

Add peppadew and tomato mixture and spoon down the middle of the breads.

Top with a sprinkling of cheese and serve.
