Stewed Dried Fruit

Dried fruit is easy to transport to the campsite for your traditional braais. The sweetness teams beautifully with the savoury taste of the braaied meat.

You Will Need:

Main Dish
  • 250 g mixed dried fruit
  • 2 cups (500 ml) of boiling water
  • 1 Rooibos tea bag
  • 2 T (30 ml) brown sugar
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • ½ t (2,5 ml) Ina Paarman’s Seasoned Sea Salt
  • a strip of naartjie peel
Main Dish
  • 250 g mixed dried fruit
  • 2 cups (500 ml) of boiling water
  • 1 Rooibos tea bag
  • 2 T (30 ml) brown sugar
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • ½ t (2,5 ml) Ina Paarman’s Seasoned Sea Salt
  • a strip of naartjie peel

Method:

Place the dried fruit in a small pot, add boiling water and tea bag.

Leave to draw and soak for 15 - 20 minutes.

Remove the tea bag. Add the sugar, cinnamon stick, Seasoned Sea Salt and naartjie peel.

Simmer until the fruit is soft, about 15 minutes.

Serve warm as a side dish.
