Gluten-Free Cooking with Ina Paarman's Kitchen
These days, more and more people are looking for ways to create wholesome gluten-free meals.
And as luck would have it, Ina Paarman has a host of products (and tested recipes!) that are naturally gluten-free, just waiting to be tried out.
With the rise in awareness of gluten-allergies and gluten intolerance, more and more people are cutting down on gluten. But while it’s simple to exclude the obvious suspects (bread, pasta etc) from your diet, the reality is that lots of products contain hidden sources of gluten – including sauces, condiments, even spice mixes. Cue some very intense reading of food labels to check the ingredients!
Luckily, Ina Paarman offers a host of handy products that are naturally gluten-free, which make them the ideal building blocks for you to get tasty meals on the table.
With this in mind, we’ve compiled a handful of favourite (tried and tested) gluten-free recipes to get you through the whole day.
“While it's simple to exclude the obvious supsects (bread, pasta, etc.) from your diet, the reality is that lots of products contain hidden sources of gluten – including sauces, condiments, and even spice mixes.”
Breakfast
- Instead of reaching for your normal packet of muesli (which may contain hidden gluten) or cereal (which almost certainly does), try this recipe for bircher muesli instead. It’s chewy and moreish and the best part is that you quickly mix the oats overnight and leave it in the fridge for the perfect on-the-go brekkie in the morning.
- Everyone needs a good omelette recipe in their repertoire and this one fits the bill. Season it with Ina Paarman’s naturally gluten-free Seasoned Sea Salt Seasoning and you’re home-free. If you’re in the mood for a little added extra flavour, a spoonful of Ina Paarman’s Sun-Dried Tomato Pesto will go a long way.
Lunch
Lunch-wise, we’re moving away from sandwich territory now, since it can still be hard to find really good gluten-free bread. But no matter, it’s better for your blood-sugar levels to cut down on the carbs over lunch anyway – which is where a nice substantial salad comes in.
- This summer salad with chickpeas is loaded with textures (tomatoes, cucumber, chickpeas!) and bursting with flavour, greatly enhanced by the addition of Ina Paarman’s gluten-free Cajun Spice and Green Onion Seasoning.
- File this recipe for chicken, lentil and spinach salad under ‘repeat lunches’. Not only do you save time by making use of a store-bought rotisserie chicken, but it serves 4-6 as well, which means you’re basically lunch box-prepped for the whole week. Just add the (naturally gluten-free) Ina Paarman Creamy Herb Dressing on the day, and off you go.
“Dinner time! Just because pasta’s off the table… doesn’t mean prepping a gluten-free dinner has to be a schlep.”
Dinner
Dinner time! Just because pasta’s off the table (unless you’ve located a gluten-free version that doesn’t taste like rice?) that doesn’t mean prepping a gluten-free dinner has to be a schlep. You’ve got a world of casseroles, curries and soups at your disposal.
- This mild curried coconut chicken bake is so simple and easy a child could make it – which is why you can find it on Ina Paarman’s Junior Chef page of recipes for children. The star of the show here is the flavourful Butter Chicken Curry Cook-In Sauce. Serve with basmati rice (and maybe a tangy little tomato salsa) and dig in.
- This recipe for Mexican-style soup is the perfect way to take a readymade soup and go full gourmet on it. Add fresh coriander, sliced avo (and maybe some fresh lime?) and you’ve got a meal fit for a (gluten-intolerant) king!
